using three easy ingredients

Making your own skincare is great because now you have control over what goes into your skincare and you can make it for friends and family too! This recipe is one of the easiest and quickest skincare recipes that I just love to make!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of salt or sugar (salt is great if you’re looking for strong exfoliation, detoxing, or soothing sore muscles, sugar is better suited for add moisturization and gentle exfoliation)
- If you are unsure whether to use salt or sugar, I will have a small list later in the article
- 1 cup of oil of choice ( I recommend Olive, avocado, or sweet almond. If you’re unsure check out my post about what oils to use when here)
- Fragrance (optional, but if you are going to use essential oils, check the dilution recommendations and be sure to use skin safe oils)
- For essential oils, use a ratio of 15-20 drops per 1 cup of sugar/salt/oil
- 1 teaspoon of dried herbs (optional)

Method
In a bowl, add your sugar or salt and oil. Next add in your fragrance, here also start with less and add more later. Dried herbs are optional, though if making for a gift make sure that they match whichever fragrance you are using. Similarly, you could only use the herbs and skip the fragrance! This recipe is so quick and easy that I will make small batches so I can test out new essential oil blends.
Essential Oil Blends
When making these, be sure not to exceed 15-20 drops per 1 cup of sugar or salt and oil. As always, err on the side of less until you are certain you are satisfied with the result.
- Rose, Lavender, and Sweet Orange
- Rosemary and Peppermint
- Rosemary and Eucalyptus
- Vanilla and Rose
- Lavender and Geranium
- Lemon and Lavender
- Sweet Orange and Lemon
- Lavender and Lemongrass
- Frankincense, Myrrh, Cedarwood, and Geranium
- Lavender, Frankincense, Orange
A lot of these use lavender, which if you don’t like you can use clary sage instead. Comment any blends that you like to use yourself if I missed any!

Salt vs Sugar
Salt is great for a vigorous exfoliation, detoxing, increasing blood circulation, reducing inflammation, and soothing sore muscles. You can choose pink Himalayan salt, sea salt, Celtic salt, coarse salt, or fine salt.
Sugar is more suited for gentle exfoliation, added moisture, dissolves easily, and is generally safer for sensitive skin. Using brown sugar will increase moisturization since it had more moisture in itself.
