Have you ever wanted to start make your own herbal infusions but didn’t know where to start? Below you can find a list of oils to use, happy crafting!

Before we begin, there are a few important things to note before starting your oil infusions:

  • Oil has a shelf life, don’t make more than you need
  • For slow infusions, choose a cool and dark place out of the sun (it will spoil faster)
  • make sure whatever herbs you use are 100% dry! The moisture from fresh herbs will spoil the oil
  • If doing hot infusion, bring the oil to a warm temp and let the herbs steep for about thirty minutes (if on a warm setting like a crockpot, infusion can be left for 12 hours)

Oils for facial infusions

  • Jojoba oil (normal, oily)
  • Sweet almond oil (normal, dry, sensitive)
  • Argan oil (dry, sensitive, oily, acne)
  • Apricot oil (normal, oily)
  • Rosehip (normal, dry)

Welcome to selkiemothermakes, a space where people can learn when oils and herbs to use to make their own skin care.

While this is a fun page to learn how to make your own skincare, it is important to note that it is always best to err on the side of caution, especially when working with essential oils or other herbs that you may not have worked with before. Always test a small patch of skin before covering yourself in a product. If you take medications or have other allergies, it is your responsibility to cross check to see if a herb will have a higher chance of causing a reaction.
